The Small Things

Wait, what are these small things ? In case this is the first thought that strikes your mind, let me make it a bit more clear. Well, here I'm talking about the small instances that take place in our day-to-day life that bring joy to our face.

Well, what inspired me to write on this topic was our short evening walk which we took around the Upvan Lake near our home. At first, I was  not pretty sure whether to go or not, but then I decided to accompany them. And to my surprise, my younger brother and my aunt joined us too ! We had a long and pleasant walk under the cloudy evening sky. And guess what? Out of nowhere, we halted at a platform in the very centre of the lake and together played langdi ! (of course we did maintain social distance.)

I suppose that was not for more than 15 mins, but the 'happiness' that shined on everyone's face was something to be photo-framed ! I mean, when the entire world is facing such a pandemic, playing langdi with your family is such an amazing experience !

We usually focus on the big things of life, but sometimes, even these tiny chunks of happiness make our mood positive and we end up being joyful. Now obviously, we have been hearing here, there and everywhere that one of the most positive impacts of this lockdown is the time we are being able to spend with our family. In fact me, being a student, have been hearing this from the very first day of our virtual classes. And I totally agree to this fact. During this isolation period, I have realised that instead of thinking that," I'm bored OR when will all of this end?", Try telling yourself that 'No matter how long the winter is, spring is sure to follow.' Just imagine, how fortunate we are to be safe between these four walls of our sweet home, surrounded by safe people. And something even more soothing is that these safe people are none other than our near and dear loved ones :) Come on, it is always a much better idea to cook with your family rather than going to malls or shopping on weekends, right?

Instead of simply asking your dad to buy you new products or games, try expressing gratitude to him for all the pleasures he has given you, for everything he has sacrificed for you and for working hard every single day; just for YOU. Instead of simply sitting on the table , having your dinner and walking away, just make an effort to tell your mother that the food she prepares is the most delicious thing you've ever tasted on the planet! The smile that will sparkle on her face will be something much more precious than a thousand diamonds.

Well, I am that type of girl who gently hugs her mom and dad every now and then ! I really don't know why that happens but whenever I see them, I just go and hug them tightly. That makes me feel much contented and joyful.

So in my opinion - Life is all about discovering happiness in the little things, cause someday you'll realise that those were the 'most valuable' things.

That's all i wanted to say.

LOVE,

N.
